SHUMAN APPOINTED TO SCIENCE ALLIANCE AT
UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN

Watertown, New York --- Perry T. Shuman, M.D., staff orthopaedic surgeon at North Country Orthopaedic Group was recently appointed to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater College of Letters and Sciences, Science Alliance. Dr. Shuman, a board certified orthopaedic surgeon, received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater in 1981.

Dr. Shuman, in cooperation with the 24-member alliance, will advise, assist and advocate for the Science Departments of the College. The alliance works to enhance the quality of education students receive within the science departments. In addition, the alliance prepares graduates to work for corporations, governmental agencies, medical colleges and non-profit organizations. Dr. Shuman will serve a one-year appointment. 

Dr. Shuman completed his orthopaedic training at SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, New York. He is currently vice president of North Country Orthopaedic Group and serves as Samaritan Medical Center’s chief of orthopaedics.

Additionally, Dr. Shuman is a clinical instructor for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at SUNY Health Science Center, Syracuse, New York and is a member of several professional organizations including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society, the New York State Medical Society, the Eastern Orthopaedic Association and the Medical Society of Jefferson County.
