KEVIN L. SCOTT, M.D.

Watertown, New York - - - Physicians at North Country Orthopaedic Group are pleased to announce the addition of Kevin L. Scott, M.D. to its physician staff.  Dr. Scott joined the practice as a full-time staff surgeon July 1, 2005.

Dr. Scott is a 1993 graduate of the Morehouse School of Medicine, Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his internship at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in 1994 and his orthopaedic residency at the Fort Wayne Medical Education Program, June 2000. 

Dr. Scott was recently honorably discharged from the United States Army having achieved the rank of Major. His most recent military assignment was at Fort Drum where he served as Chief of Orthopaedics at Guthrie Ambulatory Clinic. While stationed at Fort Drum he was deployed to Afghanistan with the 48th Combat Support Hospital where he served as Chief of Orthopaedics. Prior to his duty at Fort Drum Dr. Scott served as Medical Director at Anniston Army Depot and as Chief of Preventive Medicine at Noble Army Hospital, Fort McClellan, Alabama.

Dr. Scott resides in Copenhagen with his wife, Ramonita, and daughter, Gabriela.  “I’ve enjoyed working and living in the North Country over the past five years,” states Dr. Scott. “ I look forward to continuing my relationship with North Country residents, as well as continuing my personal involvement with the Copenhagen community.”

According to group president, Edward N. Powell, M.D., Dr. Scott will replace Richard L. Withington, M.D., who retired from the practice June 30 after 34 years of service.  “While no one person can replace a personality like Dick Withington, we expect a great deal from Dr. Scott and look forward to having a surgeon of his caliber on staff.”

Dr. Scott is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a fellow of both the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons.  He is also a member of the American Association of Medical Review Officers.
