PERRY SHUMAN, MD July 2011
Watertown, New York --- North Country Orthopaedic Group surgeon Perry T. Shuman, M.D. was recently recertified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ABOS). To maintain certification, the orthopaedic surgeon must go through a recertification process every ten years that includes a review of the surgeon’s credentials, as well as oral and written testing. Recently the ABOS updated its recertification process to a Maintenance of Certification (MOC) schedule; the MOC requires physicians to complete additional documentation and reporting in support of lifelong learning. Dr. Shuman will be certified to practice orthopaedic surgery through 2022. “Board certification and maintenance of certification is important as it represents my commitment to my profession,” states Dr. Shuman. “It is important that I demonstrate to my patients, and my colleagues, my commitment to continual learning,” continues Dr. Shuman.
